The MX-R arrived in early 1989 as an evolution of the MX-1, aimed at a more relaxed ride than the SP01 racer. It got a fully sealed fairing with better wind and cooling airflow, twin round headlights, new mirrors, plus a new cylinder, exhaust and carburettor tuned for smoothness. It stayed on sale until about 1991.
